Engaging Local Wisdom in the New Millennium

The organisers of the International Conference on Local Knowledge (ICLK) are pleased to announce that the 7th. conference will be held on 8th - 9th May 2017 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This year's conference will be co-organised with Yayasan Warisan Johor and Johor State Government. We would therefore like to invite experts, scholars and practitioners to the conference.
As with previous conferences,  the primary objective is to investigate local epistemology and its adaptability towards social transformation. However ICLK 2017 will focus on the theme Engaging Local Wisdom in the New Millennium. This conference provides an international platform to present new findings, insights and experiences in specific areas of study on Local Knowledge (LK) from different communities around the world.

Local Knowledge

Local knowledge refers to knowledge and expertise which originate from local and indigenous cultures that have developed over time. Its practices have been absorbed naturally and effortlessly into the local communities. The study on LK is aimed at enabling social transformation through a paradigm shift that forefronts local epistemology.
